It's not difficult to create orphans in Iraq. If you're an insurgent, you can blow yourself up in a crowded market. If you're an American air force pilot, you can bomb the wrong house in the wrong village. Previous FISA laws required a warrent, but investigators had 3 days to obtain said warrent, and could go ahead and start. Since its inception, FISA only rejected around 14 or so requests to spy, and it was good enough to protect us during "the Cold war" when actual Nukes were involved. But I guess the only way this incompetant administration can protect us from terrorists with boxcutters is to data mine and spy on anyone without warrents or without repercussions.
Former Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter has a recent piece warning that the ambiguity of the sanctions on Iran could be a window for military action. I guess if they can't lie their way into invading another country in the middle east with oil, then they can always try to do so on a "technicality".

Corporations are now less accountable to the people they employ and the people who invest in them.
Under the Court's most recent pro-business ruling, no corporation is accountable to its investors for dishonest business practices as long as those investors "did not rely upon [a company's] statements or representations." Doesn't an annual or quarterly report suffice as a statement or representation?...

In Iraq, it would matter how big the numbers were for collateral damage...pick one; 100,000, 500,000, a million, or 15 million. They're only numbers to Americans who are desensitized by war never having to experience the horrors on their own soil. There's been no real political progress in Iraq except for a growing Sunni open militia that the Shiites eye with growing suspicion while the Kurds play the lone ranger in the north making private oil deals and harassing Turkey. So America continues to play a very expensive cop in Iraq, and nothing will change as long as we're there. As for the neocons, they don't care if any political progress is made, as long as we're there.
This increasing corporation unaccountability stems from the irrational notion that a company is an individual. It was only in the fifties, I think, that this happened, until then the law only dealt with individual humans, and that made company executives accountable. now, when a non-human business is treated as a single human, we reap the consequences... it's the same everywhere... and when there is no possibility of fairness, justivce or decency, it is unsurprising that people are prepared top blow themselves up.
