"Don't Enlist". National Guard Poster Boy Says.

Looks like even the poster child for the national guard is upset at the administration over the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and the Bull spouted by General Patraeus during this past weeks testimony.

Nothing wrong with the message that a different strategy is needed, however, as an NG, he does not seem to understand that soldering is an apolitical profession. Part of the making a soldier is learning to set aside of one's political/ personal opinions and embracing core values. While the majority of people feel we should get out of Iraq (another quagmire, just like VN so long ago... my opnion) soldiers do not serve our political parties or political opinions. Soldiers serve our country and our national policies. Let us civilians speak out against the war. Let us civilians carry our voices to Washington. I am former military, and my family has a long tradition of soldering. I guess that skews my thoughts on what political opinions a soldier should express, especially in uniform--NONE!

I thought national guard could express their opinions, or maybe that was the reserve.

I think that he is just concerned for his fellow soldiers. The people are not responding as they did during VN because this battle is condensed on a handful of families, the same troops keep getting sent back, and the battle is not spread out like it was then. Plus, media has been restricted from being able to give us the full picture, and the bodies of the fallen cannot be shown.

But I do understand what you are saying.[COOL]
