As long as people believe in absurdities, they will continue to commit atrocities: Voltaire
I wanted to talk briefly about Fox news and the Rupert Murdoch empire. Fox news, which started in 1996, and is led by CEO Roger Ailes, a former political strategist to both Nixon and Reagan. Recently, it has been disclosed that Murdoch is trying to buy the Dow Jones, and other media outlets. Keep in mind these interesting facts from Sourcewatch. In 2001, when the media watch group Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting studied the guestlist of FNC's flagship news program, Special Report, it found that Republicans made up 89 percent of Fox News' partisan guests, outnumbering Democrats 50 to 6. Avowed conservatives made up 71 percent of guests.
Also from that site... A year-long study by the University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA)[9] reported that Americans who relied on the Fox News Channel for their coverage of the Iraq war were the most likely to believe misinformation about the war, whatever their political affiliation may be. Those mistaken facts, the study found, increased viewers' support for the war. The study found that, in general, people who watched Fox News were, more than for other sources, convinced of several untrue propositions which were actively promoted by the Bush administration and the cheerleading media led by Fox, in rallying support for the invasion of Iraq: (percentages are of all poll respondents, not just Fox watchers) Fifty-seven percent believed the falsity that Iraq gave substantial support to Al-Qaida, or was directly involved in the September 11 attacks (48% after invasion). Sixty-nine percent believed the falsity that Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11 attacks. Twenty-two percent believed the falsity that weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq. (Twenty-one percent believed that chem/bio weapons had actually been used against U.S. soldiers in Iraq during 2003) In the composite analysis of the PIPA study, 80 percent of Fox News watchers had one of more of these misperceptions, in contrast to 71 percent for CBS and 27 percent who tuned to NPR/PBS. As the Washington Post reported[10], "The fair and balanced folks at Fox, the survey concludes, were 'the news source whose viewers had the most misperceptions.' Eighty percent of Fox viewers believed at least one of these un-facts; 45 percent believed all three."
But that is no secret that fox is biased, Murdoch has admitted this himself. From that link... Asked if his News Corp. managed to shape the agenda on the war in Iraq, Murdoch said: "No, I don't think so. We tried." Asked by Rose for further comment, he said: "We basically supported the Bush policy in the Middle East…but we have been very critical of his execution."
Here is a few videos showing this blatant bias...
Fox internal Memos exposed...
Fox going after Obama for the coming 2008 election...
Fox going after John Kerry for the 2004 election..
More stuff as I find it. Peace.

Of course, because Bush has been such an idiot and has drug the republican party down in the opinions of the nation, this is probably a long term scheme to prepare for 2008 and try to save their party.
As far as Mudoch himself, I have no real opinion because I will admit I am not educated enough about the person to make a statement...pro or con.
Anyhow, I know you have bashed FNC in this post but don't for one minute believe the other networks are "squeaky clean". They do exactly the same things but with a different spin on things, that's all. I have actually watched enough of Catie Couric to see the "games" that get played on CBS's nightly news program. They don't ask the tough questions at all. Usually when one of their "articles" is finished, it leaves me sitting there saying, "What about this? and What about that?". They only tell as much as they want but make it sound like the subject has come to a conclusion and only their opinion counts. I've been watching a little more NBC nightly news lately and have pretty much caught them at the same type thing.
What does FNC usually do? They get enough of both sides to sit down and talk it out.....no..just kidding. It usually ends up being a shouting match and nothing is ever resolved except to find out who can yell the loudest. I get real tired of that.
I'm tired of all of the news organizations and junk they spew out. I'm tired of ALL of congress being so politically minded and hungry for power that the people of the United States are actually the ones "taking it on the chin". I do not believe it matters who is pres. and who controls congress. They should all be thrown out and some people who actually care about others and not themselves should be voted in. I know, that will never happen.
Thanks for letting me drone on...........
Two thirds of house democrats voted against the war, that is one lie media will tell. Here is the Record for the house on the Iraq use of force authorization...

In the senate, only one of the nays came from a republican and one from an Independent, but there were 23 nays...

The Majority of them do need thrown out of washington, I agree. But It does matter who is president. Bush signed every bill the Republican congress sent him. Unless I am mistaken he has yet to sign one since Dems took control, essentially stalling everything they are trying to do. He had only vetoed one bill (stem cells), now since January he has vetoed one, threatened two more.
Not to mention the signing statement debachal, basically ignoring congressional laws he does not agree with, 750+ since 2001... ( http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/04/30/examples_of_the_presidents_signing_statements/ )
I think you will find those links interesting, or scary, and certainly not discussed on any of our media sources on the tube (maybe on the crawl, once).
Drone all you want, as you can tell I do too..[LOL][LOL][SMILE][COOL]
Sure, there were some nays on the vote. I NEVER heard that 2/3's of Dems voted that way. In fact, I had pretty much heard that they had all voted yay.
I don't really care who voted yay or nay. It passed with a large number of both parties saying "go for it".
The main thing I see as far as who is voted in as Pres is this:If the Dems win we will turn even more toward socialism. Something I am personally very much against. One small step toward communism. Or at least someone's version of communism. I do not wish to lose my freedoms. If the Repubs win then it's the same old crap. I'm tired of hearing Bush talk about the fact that the economy is doing so well. If it's so wonderful, why am I having so much trbl making ends meet? The Dems won't do any better because the first thing they want is to raise taxes for socialized health care and on and on and on. I'll be no better off no matter who wins. That is pretty much what I meant by it doesn't matter who the pres is.
How in the world you think all media is slanted to the right I guess I will never understand. If you tried telling Catie or Dan or Tom or Mr. "Hardball" or any of those people that they lean to the right you would probably get such a complete look of awe from them their faces would more than likely freeze that way.
I guess you are sooooooo far to the left that maybe they do look like they slant right. I dunno.
I just believe there is a LOT more that goes on behind the scenes that NO ONE knows about unless you are one of the people making deals in congress etc. The "special interests" have completely screwed this country up.
I also do not believe the "Fairness Doctrine" should be brought back. It stiffles free speach. It doesn't expand or help it.
I did not say the majority should be thrown out of congress. I said ALL of them should be. They should be replaced with people of integrity and honesty. Nope....will never happen.
Anyway. I didn't come here to start a fight or whatever. That doesn't solve anything. I don't believe one person can convince another to think the way they do by getting hostile.
By the way. I don't support Bush with many of the things he has done...ok? I just wanted to set the record straight. At the same time, I don't think there is one single person running for pres that will be any good. They are all in it for their own motives. Don't care which one you are talking about. That is how I feel about them all.
And finally, I guess if we don't like what a certain news organization does....we vote with our remote controls and don't watch them.
I would love to have 5 minutes to tell any of those you say are leftist what I really think about them.
Communism, Fascism? This one is for you...

Yes special interests have taken over, that is why we need publicly funded elections, to boot out the special interests...
I am not about starting arguements either, believe me or not is your choice, that is why I provide the sites for you to look at. You can fact check me all you wish, PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG.... Torture, wiretapping, the illegal war in Iraq, anything...PROVE IT, don't just spout it like a right wing pundit.[GLARE]
Yes, I did glance at the roll call.
I commented on your site hoping to get some answers and have a dialogue. ( at least we have dialogue). I just don't have any answers. I'm just tired of everyone fighting over politics etc. Guess it will never stop.
Oh well... Later.
When anyone in this country has an opinion that is not right out of Bush or Roves crack, they are A) labeled too far left or B) their sources are questioned, but never so much that the questioner really looks it up. I get into it with A.R. and Joe all the time, I find their sites humorus at best.
I dont believe everything on the internet either, anything that is important to you should be check though two unrelated sources, and that is what I do. I have over the past few years done alot of reading. I have taken care of Injured troops and seen that damage, even changed some of those dressings, read about the torture, and it kills me to think my country is doing some of these things, so I get a bit defensive at times, and for that I apologize. I have a great deal of emotion about these topics. But it is not like I link to someones myspace site or something. I go to media, to military and government news sites most often. I really try NOT to be conspiratorial and to put research to my accusations and posts and to present it to my readers and have discussions with them or have them correct me if I am wrong. You say you wanted Answers, these are the answers I believe to be true, if you doubt them, at least you know where I got them with a single click, unlike some sites. And you can always check them if you doubt them.
I too am tired of the fighting over politics, I want things to change, and it is part of why I started doing this blog. To get information out that most people do not hear, but that is from credible sources. I love a good Dialoge and if what I put on here does not give the answers you want or need, perhaps it will give those that look here ideas or questions that need to be asked. But like you said, it is for each person to make up their own mind. I am very left and very liberal, and feel based on what I have seen (and present here) and read that that is the best decision for me. But to deny the information just because you know that the other side said this or that without looking it up yourself is dangerous. What I find is proof enough for me by the time I decide to post it.
Democracy can only come from an informed public that votes, And with a media bias like the one, and a near monopoly of media by a handful of corporations (which if murdoch gets his way, is getting even smaller) that exists, our democracy is in grave danger, and too many people just sit back with their fingers in their ear screaming "I can't believe that, that's a liberal media source." All the while more troops die or get poisoned by depleted Uranium, more civilians in Iraq die, more people in Gitmo charged with absolutely nothing are tortured, and more tax dollars go to the Bush Crime Family, Halliburton and the rest.
Again, I apologize if I got snappish, Its 2 am here, I cannot sleep, probably rambling at this point, and my cat is outside in heat and will not shut up with at weird in heat meow..So perhaps I am losing it.
[BLUSH][BLUSH][SAD]
Voltaire said best why this finger pointing and occuring. People are uninformed, and intentionally so, then they are bombarded with the story that all media is "liberal Media" is propagands. Although our government is not really allowed to propagandize us, the GAO found in two years more than 1.6 Billion was spent to do just that by the Bush Administration. The problem cannot be fixed, until the population is educated on the truth, and stops believing the lies.[WINK][SMILE]
